I’m always up for drawing prompts! Especially when my mind goes blank, just like the paper infront of me when I’m holding a pencil ready to be creative. Sketch Book Skool, an online platform designed to teach how to draw and sketch, often partake in challenges – with tips and sample “klasses” available, as well […]
One of the friendliest and skilled artists I’ve ever met at a convention would have to be Anthony Christou, an artist that brings amazing skills in landscape and character design to his fans and the public in general.
Anthony has been creating art for the last five years (and beyond), has a Patreon page (which I support monthly), and currently has a Kickstarter campaign for his brand new Worlds and Creatures – the Art of Anthony Christou. The book is 100 pages, hard cover and full of art of his last five years of publishing, video games, comic and film projects he has worked on. (more…)
It’s hard to buy art supplies on a budget, and at times, when bills get just too much, it’s the art supply money that gets sacrificed so we can eat. But I’m here to show you how you can spend just $20 per fortnight and start to equip your art studio with the tools you will need to create a full colour illustration from start to finish. (more…)
Tim Stiles is the creator of Cthulhu Williams, and today, we are interviewing him. What excites me about this interview is that not only has he successfully funded his Kickstarter campaign for his comic “Cthulhu Williams”, (we all love success stories, right?) but he’s a down to earth creator who values his artists and skills, and has worked in the Killeroo ‘verse that Darren Close has created.

I’m interested in finding out more about what you use when you create your art and comics. I invite you to take part in this poll I have created to help me understand your needs as creators. Feel free to click more than one option, and to share with your friends and co-creators on Facebook […]
We are really spoilt for choice this week. Mike Barry, the creator of “Action Tank” – a 100 page graphic novel, gets interviewed by MCA Studios – the third comic creator we have interviewed this week!
Mike is a local Sydney creator, and has been doing comic art for quite a number of years. He has worked with other creators over those years, and it’s now time to get ready for “Action Tank”. You can support his Kickstarter here.

When we say MCA Studios supports Aussie independent comic creators – we mean it!
We travel from Brisbane headquarters to Adelaide, to talk to comic-creator, Dr Mike Cooper, who took some time from his busy schedule to answer a few questions we put forward about his comics, his Kickstarter campaign (which you should definately go and support by 17th Feb 2017!), and himself as a creator. We have a bonus for you as well – Dr Mike 2000 has included some pretty cool pictures of him at work, his inspiration, and his process.

I met Dan Gilmore a few years ago, I cannot recall if it was at a local drawing group, or an event where he was selling his comics, but since then, I have had the chance to chat with him from time to time, and watch him at his art.
His design and art skill are apparent in his comics, and his stories are engaging and thought provoking. I had the chance to ask him some questions recently, and this is what we talked about, mostly I just asked questions, and he answered.

Stephen Kok is the creative genius behind “Tabby“, and several other successful graphic novels, and has another on the way! I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to interview Stephen and find out a little more of what he does and what his graphic novels are all about!
Stephen is a creator and writer of many graphic novels, and it’s a real treat to read through his website about what he is working on next, which is a graphic novel called “Blue“. I can’t wait for this one!
“Tabby” has been accepted into over 100 library catalogues (no pun intended!) across Australia and New Zealand.
One of the best things about my job will be talking to a variety of comic artists, and today I’m bringing you the very first interviewee – Liam Anthony.
Please grab a cuppa and learn a bit more about what Liam does, and enjoy the interview. (more…)
